Assembling a Board of Directors
Thanks to the work of the four AHIC Successor Planning Groups, the Office of the National Coordinator, and their LMI-Brookings partners, AHIC Successor, Inc. was incorporated on July 17th. The AHIC Successor will be instrumental in drawing a roadmap for successful health IT adoption that promotes interoperability through strong standards, while ensuring confidentiality, privacy, and security for patients. The three signatories to the incorporation, Dr. Jonathan Perlin, Dr. John Tooker, and Dr. John Glaser, led the organization through its first two development phases, including incorporation and formation of the inaugural Board of Directors, and will continue to serve the organization through its first year.
Selection of the AHIC Successor’s 21-member Board of Directors was key to creating the new organization. To ensure a unified voice representing the health care community, the Board is comprised of a majority of at-large members in addition to representational members, including consumers and the Federal Government.
AHIC Successor's incorporators wish to thank the numerous individuals and organizations that submitted nominations for the Board of Directors. A Nominating Committee composed of representatives from the AHIC Successor Planning Groups, a consumer organization, and the Federal Government evaluated over 150 nominations during August and early September, 2008. Based upon the Nominating Committee's review, the incorporators announced the final Board appointees on September 23, 2008.
The inaugural AHIC Successor, Inc. Board of Directors held its first meeting on November 13 2008.
